The American Cancer Society is the leading cancer-fighting organization with a vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. We are the only organization improving the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
When it comes to cancer, our Society has recognized the value and importance of investing in the fight against cancer. The need is vast, and the fight is fought on many fronts. ACS initiatives include advocacy and funding for prevention, screening, and advancing care through highly trained physicians and researchers in state-of-the-art medical facilities across the nation.
Despite these resources and advancements, access to care and health equity still remain a barrier for patients most in need, making the most basic aspects of care the greatest challenge. These barriers include transportation and lodging. With the support of generous community partners, the Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge bridges this gap by providing lifesaving resources to patients, ensuring that they have a free place to stay and free rides to treatment.
Since 2006, the Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge has provided 15,650 patients more than 226,160 nights of free lodging and 20,867 rides to treatment, to ease the financial burden of a cancer diagnosis.
The American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge program provides a free home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers. More than just a roof over their heads, it is a nurturing community that helps patients access the care they need. The Hope Lodge offers a supportive, home-like environment where guests can share a meal, join in the evening’s activities, or unwind in their own private room.
Fund the Mission proceeds will be used to support the operating cost of the Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge on River Road in New Orleans.
